The site presented several challenges, including tight constraints, shadowing, overlooking and a tree protection zone. Through considered design outcomes and intelligent architecture, these issues were all overcome to create a high-end home of quiet confidence.
That is seen in some of the bespoke touches, such as the curves found throughout, from the arched windows to the rounded pool. A sophisticated spiral staircase, light-filled living spaces, dual living areas and four bedrooms deliver an elevated family residence.
The open plan promotes fluidity and connectivity between spaces, fostering a sense of space, flexibility and an airy, welcoming atmosphere. Soft travertine inside and neutral tones on cladding details outside combine to create a home that is light, fresh and naturally suited to its coveted place location close to the water.
The result makes a modern yet respectful contribution to the streetscape through a design language that pays homage to the heritage context through subtle references in materiality, proportions and façade treatments. In the site’s rear, an existing signature palm tree was seen as an opportunity rather than a problem, influencing the floorplan orientation and creating a focal point for the home.
96 Osborne Street is a unique and harmonious addition to this lush pocket of Williamstown – as well as a distinguished addition to Mancini Made’s portfolio of thoughtfully designed and meticulously constructed high-end homes.
