The key challenge involved achieving harmony between contemporary living requirements and maintaining the home's original street presence. The renovation needed to improve functionality through strategic internal restructuring and careful external additions without dominating the original structure or disrupting the neighbourhood's authentic character.
The renovation centred around smart material choices and innovative spatial planning, with the hero element being charcoal vertical cladding that beautifully differentiates the new rear addition from the original red brick. This creates a bold yet respectful contrast that announces the home's modern transformation.
Inside, the redesigned open-plan kitchen featuring rich walnut tones paired with crisp off-whites becomes the heart of the new layout, while recycled red brick elements woven into the landscaping maintain visual connection and celebrate the home's original materials.
The site presented unique challenges with its significant fall to the rear and tight side access, adding complexity when coordinating multiple trades. However, careful planning, strategic trade sequencing, and weekly coordination meetings ensured quality delivery under pressure.
A strong partnership between client, architect, and the Mancini Made team delivered bespoke joinery, premium finishes, and exceptional attention to detail that exemplifies the MM approach.
This thoughtfully executed renovation shows how heritage homes can adapt to modern family life while enhancing their streetscape contribution.
