Our client for The Rokker House sought a meaningful dialogue between past and present - meticulously restoring the grandeur of the original Victorian residence while introducing a contemporary addition for modern family life.

The architectural design embraced contrast rather than blurring old and new. The heritage home was lovingly restored to celebrate its craftsmanship and character, while the rear extension introduced a calm, sculptural, pared-back language in off-white brickwork.

A subtle linking corridor creates a threshold between the two, shifting from the intimacy of period rooms into the lightness of the new addition.

For our team, one of the most demanding aspects was the restoration of the late-18th-century home, carefully dismantled back to its original frame before being reconstructed. Beneath it, a full basement excavation through significant rock added further complexity to the build.

A sculptural curved form sweeps over the main living spaces, creating a dramatic double-height volume reminiscent of a piano's profile, while a glazed window between the pool and basement brings light and atmosphere below ground.

We're especially proud of the level of detail executed internally. The finishes were unforgiving, demanding precision at every turn, and the considered materiality throughout reflects the care taken at every stage.

The result is a layered, legible home—respectful of its history yet entirely attuned to contemporary living, with bluestone paving and a considered landscape grounding it firmly in its coastal Williamstown setting.

Now complete, The Rokker House stands as a reflection of our craftsmanship and a showcase of the close collaboration between our client and the team at Mancini Made.
